Course Summary:

To be able to research and design an Internet marketing plan is an essential skill and learners will explore, the steps involved in drawing up these plans. This activity will bring together the skills covered in this unit.

Learning outcomes:
On successful completion of this course a learner will:
1. Understand marketing through the Internet
2. Be able to use the Internet for promotion using digital marketing communications
3. Be able to produce market research to support customer relationship management
4. Be able to design an Internet marketing plan.

A full Internet marketing plan combines online market data, the strategic goals of an organisation, an honest appraisal of internal capabilities and required outside support, a detailed listing of the steps needed and an effective system of measuring and improving results. However like any marketing plan, it is essential that it supports the overall corporate business plan and contributes to the achievement of the company mission and objectives.
The benefit of marketing planning is that it provides a strategic focus and framework for implementing and evaluating the chosen course of action.
Promotional planning should incorporate four key elements:
• Positioning- building brands online and using paid and organic search to drive traffic
• Permission- opening a dialogue with potential new customers and incorporating customer relationship management (CRM)
• Partnership- including affiliate marketing, co-promotions and joint ventures
• Performance- including the measurement of web site success and online marketing strategies using web analytics.
